Roles and permissions
What each role can do, how multiple roles combine, and how roles differ from flight assignments.
Your role decides what you are allowed to do in a workspace. An administrator sets it on the Team page. It stays the same until someone changes it.
A person can hold several roles at once. Their permissions are the combination of all of them. For example, someone who answers the ops email, goes out to run flights and also does the invoicing holds Operations controller, Dispatcher and Accounts / finance.
FBO roles

Roles versus assignments
Assigning a flight to someone does not change their role. The assignment makes them the dispatcher for that one flight. It shows as "Assigned to me" on their dashboard and in My shift. A dispatcher with seven flights today keeps exactly the role they had.
The usual set-up: operations controllers in the office take the bookings, work the Inbox and assign flights; dispatchers receive their flights and run them on the ramp; ramp staff handle bags, towing and the like. Flights can be assigned to operations controllers and dispatchers.
Organisation roles (operators, trip support, flight departments)

In an operator's world, the person who dispatches flights holds Operations / trip planner. In an FBO, the person running flights on the ramp holds Dispatcher, and the ops office holds Operations controller.
