Scanning bags with Ramp
Start a flight batch, scan bags in and out, and close it with every bag accounted for.
Ramp is an add-on to the Aviation FBO workspace for handheld scanners and phones. Each flight gets a batch, a manifest of bag tags. Bags are scanned in as they are loaded and scanned out at the collection point. Anything outstanding is visible at a glance.
Getting access
- GHSLink switches the Ramp add-on on for your FBO.
- You need the Admin, Dispatcher or Ramp staff role there.
- Open ramp.ghslink.com, or Ramp scanning in the Aviation menu. Without access you'll see "Ramp isn't available… Ask your administrator."
Scan a flight
- On Flight Batches, choose + New.
- Enter the flight number (for a private flight, the registration), origin and destination, and the station if you work at more than one. Choose Start Batch.
- Scanning in: building manifest. Scan each bag tag as it's loaded. Each scan shows Loaded, or Already scanned if it's a repeat.
- When the hold is closed, choose Close Loading & Depart. The batch is now In transit.
- At the collection point, choose Start Collecting.
- Scanning out: collecting. Scan each bag. Each scan shows Collected, Already collected, or Not on manifest for a tag that was never loaded. Panels list the bags not yet collected and any collected but not on the manifest.
- Choose Close & Reconcile. Any outstanding bags are recorded as missing.
Reading the batch list
Each batch shows its status (Loading, In transit, Collecting, Closed) and the number of bags loaded and collected. Once loading has finished it also shows how many are outstanding.
No signal?
Keep scanning. Scans queue on the device (the status bar shows Offline and how many are queued) and sync automatically when the connection returns. Scanning the same bag twice never double-counts it.
